Mission

The Hong Kong Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (HKFMT) Stool Biobank is the first stool biobank in Asia to provide material and service to patients for faecal microbiota transplantation.

In order to enhance customer satisfaction, HK FMT Stool Biobank has taken necessary actions to understand the needs and expectations of relevant stakholders by providing service in specimen collection, processing, quality control, storage and transportation to clinical practice.  

Our mission is to provide a quality service with timely provision of stool filtrate for FMT procedures to patients in need.

Vision

FMT has proven to be effective in treating gut infections caused by Clostridioides difficile. Our vision is to provide a product for the effective treatment in gut infections and irritable bowel syndrome.

HK FMT Stool Biobank is determined to evolve in the changing needs and increasing acceptance of FMT by acquiring necessary knowledge necessary for the operation to achieve conformity of services to clinicians and patients.

About Us

What is FMT?

Fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) involves transferring gut bacteria and other elements from the feces of a carefully screened healthy donor to a patient with a specific condition, with the goal of treating the patient’s condition.

FMT can be delivered either through the upper gastrointestinal tract using a tube inserted through the nose into the stomach or small intestine, or through the lower bowel via colonoscopy or rectal enema.

The FMT produced by the HK FMT Biobank complies to ISO 9001:2015 and Good Manufacturing Practice conditions.
